One of the most unique aspects of Fei Tian Academy of the Arts is the opportunity it affords students to apply the artistic skills they have acquired in school.
Students within the dance and music programs have the opportunity to engage in practicums to further develop the skills learned within the classroom and to prepare them for a career in the performing arts and/or for competitive post-secondary education. Qualified Fei Tian students are encouraged to audition for practicum opportunities available during the winter term with leading Chinese performing arts companies, such as Shen Yun Performing Arts.
The practicum is a structured learning opportunity. Students are supervised closely by faculty and staff at the practicum site. Dance students have the chance to take their individual and group dance techniques to the next level and hone their overall performance skills. By taking on roles within actual stage performances, they build the stamina necessary to perform professionally and develop the opportunity to experience and adapt to the rigors of a professional dance career. For music students, the practicum is a chance for them to enhance their music training, adopt roles within orchestral performances, experience and adapt to the rigors of a professional orchestra, and gain access to professionals within their field. Fei Tian Academy awards students elective credits for completion of the practicum. Students may pursue different practicum opportunities depending upon their interests and focuses.
