Fei Tian Academy of the Arts is a natural outgrowth of the Fei Tian Dance School, a nonprofit organization created by Falun Dafa practitioners in 2006 that sought to preserve, promote, and develop traditional Chinese arts through classes and performances.
The two-syllable word fei-tian is a Chinese term for heavenly beings that fly and bring goodness to the world through their song and dance.
Within a short time the students managed to make astounding progress in their development as dancers, which led to great demand to expand the after-school dance program into a full-fledged school complete with academic instruction.
On March 19, 2007, Fei Tian Academy of the Arts was officially established, replacing the original Dance School.
